The Gatinara DOCG is located in northwest Italy, in the north of the province of Vercelli in the Piedmont region. Piedmont means "at the foot of the mountains", ie the Alps, which surround a region, which is characterized by a slightly moderate continental climate due to the influence of rivers, known as the River Po. DOC was declared in 1967 and qualified as a DOCG in 1990. These are grown grape varieties: Grapes: different varieties such as Barbera and Dolcetto, but the best known is Nebbiolo of Barolo and Barbaresco. White Grapes: the best known is the Moscato, along with Cortese, the Erbaluce Ameis and decreases with increasing da Chardonnay. It mainly produces red wines of intense color, aromatic and full bodied.
