About Álvaro Palacios could say many things that define him as a winemaker and vintner wine from Priorat, Bierzo and Rioja. He was born in La Rioja in 1964 into a family of winemakers and completed his training in oenology in Bordeaux. Your stay in Bordeaux grew in him the ambition to get recover classical vineyards in Spain; I wanted to find a place where I had old vines, an area with great potential and good quality. From the hand of his friend René Barbier, he settled in Catalonia, where he discovered the Priory, temporarily abandoned by historical circumstances and initiated the recovery of his vineyard. In 1993 L'Ermita took his best plot in the DOQ Priorat, ecologically cultivated, 3.5 hectares of which only used in their wines 1.5 Ha, the rest is growing, aging or until you decide to produce wines with exploitation. It also has other 30 hectares of vines, 17 of them in terraces and the remaining 13 on the '' costers'. As a curiosity, we know that Alvaro Palacios in organic viticulture applied based herbal teas, chamomile and valerian, with which are sprayed by hand vineyard, and because of the terrain features machines can not move through the vineyards, so people and mules used in tillage and other farm work.
