Abadia Retuerta Le Domaine is the first white wine for the cellar, leaving the market after 10 years of research. It is made from vines grown in Sardon de Duero, which belong to the Tierra de Castilla y León. The grape varieties used are: Sauvignon Blanc planted 18 years ago, with a touch of Verdejo and other white varieties. It is a wine of "terroir" that comes from a place with a high proportion of sand and pebbles, and good sun exposure that ensures almost perfect each harvest ripening. The harvest took place in October, fast and careful due to the heavy rains, with selection of clusters selection table on arrival at winery. Winemaking with short maceration and fermentation and aging between 5 and 6 months in French oak barrels. Alcohol: 13% vol.
Tasting notes: Straw yellow brilliant golden highlights. Complex and intense nose, reminiscent other varieties of grape, pineapple and hints of grapefruit, toast, butter and bread. In the mouth fresh, citrus, smoky, slightly spicy flavor. This wine is full bodied, smooth, with perfect acidity and a long, fresh, original and surprising ending. A wine for aging, a faithful reflection of the personality of the winery and with great potential for development in the bottle over the next 10 years.
More about Bodegas Abadía Retuerta: it's a cellar with a historical legacy, which dates back to the Middle Ages, when the Conde de Castilla in order to settle Christianity in Castilian lands, sent in 1146 to build the monastery of Our Lady St. Mary Retuerta. Since then, following in the footsteps of the monks before them, have sought harmony in its facilities, the environment, architecture and landscape, to be reflected in their wines. The winery produces wines which is located in the town of Sardon de Duero (Valladolid), belongs to the Grandes Pagos from Spain and also produces wines from Castilla y León. It has 54 plots of vineyards, each with a different composition, which spread from the banks of the Duero River to 850 m altitude. This difference in altitude, combined with the different types of soil , produces variations in the performance of each payment, obtaining grapes from very different qualities.
